How To Dress For A Seminar

I love a good seminar.
Always have and always will. The easiest method of learning for me and a great way to keep meeting new and interesting folks with the same interests.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend a luncheon seminar at Gainesville Country Club.

This sleeveless shift dress which I wore is a Calvin Klein that I purchased at Dillard's a couple of years ago to wear to my niece's shower.

Sleeveless is perfect in the Florida heat as you are coming and going to your destination. However never forget the opposite of Florida heat is Florida air conditioning. They go together like toast and jam. Can't have one without the other.

The little basic black shrug is also Calvin Klein purchased off the sale rack at Dillard's years ago. It's polyester and spandex. Never wrinkles. I drop it in my tote and forget about it. Love it!

I have found that the perfect go to shoe for me is the espadrille. They are comfortable and not too dressy but also not too casual.

Last but not least the handbag. Ninety percent of the time you will find me carrying a tote. Ipad, phone, brochures, camera, water you name it and you'll probably find it in my tote. The one that you see here today is Ralph Lauren. I purchased it at TJ Maxx last year. It also came in red and green. The blue has worked well for me here in "GATOR" country.

Thanks for joining me. I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Blueberry Fields

Blueberry season is here. Who doesn't love those sweet berries?  It's time for our annual family tradition of heading out to the farm for some berry picking. A caravan of cars and kids equals loads of fun.

We've done this enough times to realize that you need to get an early start. It can get really hot out in the open fields later in the day. I think I'll check out the shady spot.

Blueberry Farm. Think that's an appropriate name? You can tell by the sign that they have been here for a long time.
All organic, grown without pesticides and delicious.

It's a family affair. These little guys sure know how to pick the sweetest and best. Know you that you get to sample as you pick.

It's a beautiful morning with three gorgeous horses grazing next door.
This one's name is Snowflake and she loves blueberries too.

The fields are filled with ripe berries. Every other row is planted with a different type of berry. That makes for a delicious variety in our buckets.

You guessed it. Back at home it's time to make the cobbler for dinner. I found this recipe on line at allrecipes.com and it was delicious.

Best Ever Blueberry Cobbler

This recipe works great with other cobbler fruits. A delicious light dessert that's not too sweet.
Serves best with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups fresh blueberries
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 2/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
  1. In an 8 inch square baking dish, mix blueberries, 3 tablespoons sugar and orange juice. Set aside. In a small bowl, thoroughly mix flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla extract. Gradually add flour mixture, stirring just until ingredients are combined. Drop batter by rounded tablespoons  over blueberry mixture. Try to cover as much filling as possible.
  3. Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbling.

Thanks for joining me. I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Saturday At The Haile Village Farmers Market

On Saturday morning one of my all time favorite things to do is visit a local farmers market.
This past Saturday we headed out to the Haile Village Market here in Gainesville.
The boys, Rex and Jake, are always ready for a morning outing.
They always manage to create a little attention for themselves.

Always a great Saturday treat!

It's fun exploring all the sights and smells.
Rex enjoys leading the way.

Time for a rest and some much needed shade.

It is a ideal morning for being outside.

I'm am going to stock up on plenty of locally grown veggies and fruits.
It's harvesting time for the watermelons and blueberries.
Yum.

There are plenty of locally grown organic foods.
And lots of baked goods too.

Sunflowers are my must buy today!
Aren't they beautiful?

My buddy Rex.

Looking for Jake?
Time to head for home.

I'm looking forward to enjoying these special treats all week long.

Thanks for joining me at the Haile Village Farmer's Market.

In case you are interested the outfit that I am wearing is my own.
I have purchased all items over the past couple years.
The shorts and vest are from Chico's last year. The linen top is new this year at Chico's.
The small read bag is Michael Kors from Dillards purchased several years ago.
The red sandals are a go to staple for me from Target.

Have fun living and loving life! See you again soon.

Keeping Cool

Yesterday was a heat challenge!
Temps in the high 80's touching on 90 here in North Central Florida.
Perfect time for our main air conditioner to take a break.

No worries, all well that ends well.
Two separate visits from the repair technician and I'm cool.
A good reminder to dress appropriately when I venture out this evening.

This evening's outing is to see my grandson's second grade recital.

"Of Mice and Mozart"

What a treat!

I am finding this year's loose fitting dresses perfect.
Simple, comfortable and affordable.
I found the one that I'm wearing at one of our small local boutiques.
Easy to compliment with classic accessories.

Necklace/bracelet (nina nguyen) was a Mother's Day gift from my kids.
The necklace is a little bit of bling from the gift shop at Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island.

Gucci handbag is a classic from the 1990's.
A gift from my hubby.
Quality never goes out of style.

Have fun living and loving life!
See you soon.

I've Got Errands To Run

Happy Tuesday Ladies

Tuesday - that's my everything day.
Hair appointments, dentist, dog to the vet you name
it and you'll find me doing it on Tuesday.

The outfit that I am wearing today is from Chico's Platinum Collection.
It is a couple of years old. I'm always looking on the sale rack at end of season.

Living in Florida requires a lot of layering.
The heat and humidity make staying cool a top priority.
But we natives know that we must always be prepared for "air conditioning".

The linen sleeveless top is new from Chico's this year.

The necklace by Nina Nguyen is my Mother's Day gift from my darling grandsons.

Great seeing you again.

Have fun living and loving life!

See you soon.

Mode of  Transportation

Spring is here and summer just around the corner.
Usually you will find me out walking the esplanade under the trees with my two shelties.
Yes, I'm an obsessive Fit Bitter. How many steps today?

The weather here in North Florida goes from warm to hot quickly this time of year.
I sometimes need a quicker less sticky way to get from here to there.

Thanks to my sweet husband, I now have a shiny blue bike with basket to get me around.
It works great as I am chasing behind my 6 and 8 year old grandsons on their motorized scooters.

Nan can keep up!

When the going gets tough the tough get going.
Going with a motor that is.
Golf cart is a great way to get around the neighbor.
Carting kids, dogs and friends all great fun.

Have fun living and loving life!
See you soon.
